I’ve just recently started writing a series about my online dating stories and I’m planning a future post about “Redneck Richard”, but then yesterday on Thanksgiving I got an Instagram notification – it was a post from Richard saying “Happy Thanksgiving from Jumby Bay!”.
I clicked on the notification and up popped a picture of him with a beautiful bikini clad woman on a beach with a sunset background. Richard was a cool guy, he just wasn’t “my guy” (for reasons I’ll get to in that post!) so I was genuinely happy to see that he’s found someone and is doing well.
Then for some stupid reason I woke up this morning wondering “where is Jumby Bay anyway?” As it turns out, Jumby Bay Island is a 300 acre private island located a couple miles off the coast of Antigua in the Caribbean.
The whole time Richard and I were dating, he was super short on cash, waiting for his condo to sell so he could buy a boat and live out his dream of sailing around the world and living on the water. We spent most of our time together sitting around the condo “window shopping” for boats. While I love a good boat trip, living on the sea is not the life for me, but I’m thinking his post means that he’s finally living his dream!
I’m a little disappointed in myself that I even bothered looking up Jumby Bay, but instead of being jealous in any way, his Instagram post gives me hope that maybe you CAN find someone special online. I wish you smooth sailing Richard, and a happy life!
