I’ll be turning 57 next week and in today’s mail I received a “birthday offer” from AARP offering me a whopping 45% discount if I enroll this month. I know AARP does amazing things for seniors, my mom has been a member, yada yada – but what the hell? I’m just not that damn old! And how dare you offer me a free Grab and Go Cooler that can hold “tall bottles and stacking cans”, as if you know that I’m cool enough to need a carrier for my Yuengling’s and canned seltzers. It’s as if you’re complimenting me and insulting me in the same breath. Just stop!
And yet in the meanwhile, my kids are all growing up and leaving home, I’m finding myself traveling more often to keep up with them. Those member discounts on travel, hotels, airfare and more are looking pretty interesting. Damn it! Yes I will take the 5 year membership for the steepest discount. Now when does the stupid cooler arrive? I need it for an upcoming event!
