So this is like the story of my life y’all, it sure seems like either all the best men are taken, or if they’re not – then they’re not really “available” for some reason or another. One of my new favorite people is a single guy that I’ve been heavily talking to for about a month, he’s pretty amazing, truly seems to get me (and I him) and that is SO rare. BUT he’s in his 50s, no kids, never been married. This could be good, or it could be a sign of commitment issues – what do you think?
Sadly, I think it’s the latter because he’s become skittish lately. I don’t feel like I’m coming on too strong, but after weeks of being a daily fixture in each other’s lives I’m sure I’ve become more comfortable. I’m using terms of endearment (doll, sugar, sweetness – I AM southern!), and touch is one of my love languages. If I have feelings for you, I’m touching you, that doesn’t mean I’m clingy though, I don’t think anyone enjoys that.
At any rate, I kinda get the feeling that these things are making him nervous. I don’t know if it’s something that will pass, it’s actually not looking good at the moment, but I’m willing to be a little bit patient. I am NOT willing to wait around thinking that as he gets to know me better he’ll eventually fall in love with me and suddenly fulfill all my needs. I’m pretty darn amazing, I don’t want to be an option, I deserve to be the only choice.
A man who’s serious about you wants to take you off the market. A man who’s serious about you wants to claim you as his own — not in a possessive way, of course, but in a loving way. A man who’s serious about you is proud to introduce you to his family, friends and work colleagues as his girlfriend, partner or wife. I’m personally not looking for a husband, I’ve been down that road and it would take an awful lot for me to do that again. I’m not even looking to move in with anybody, I just want a fun, committed, loyal relationship with someone who gets me and that I’m excited to spend time with.
The foundation of a good relationship is being with someone who’s excited about you, someone who contacts you frequently and wants to see you regularly, someone who prioritizes you and someone who makes you feel happy, relaxed and content. My guy has a few of these things going on, the jury is out on the others, but I’m going to try my best to relax and just see what happens next. Maybe I’m wrong and he’ll turn out to be available? I’m not holding my breath but we shall see.
